A Gallup/Walton Family Foundation/GSV Ventures probability-panel survey of 1,572 U.S. Gen Zers (aged 14–29), conducted February–March 2026, finds weekly-or-more AI usage stable at 51% year-over-year, but excitement has fallen 14 percentage points to 22% and hopefulness 9 points to 18%, while anger has risen 9 points to 31%. Even daily users show significant positivity declines. Employed Gen Zers are now more than three times as likely to say AI risks outweigh benefits (48%) than the reverse (15%), up from a 37%/20% split a year ago. For financial institutions, the data suggests that consumer-facing and workforce AI adoption narratives face a softening sentiment foundation among the youngest cohort, which could slow enterprise ROI realization in roles staffed heavily by Gen Z.
