A mixed-methods analysis of 1,454 Reddit narratives (published February 2026 in Frontiers in Psychology) identifies seven distinct themes, including shattered trust, eroded professional identity, technostress, and devalued expertise, through which workers collectively process AI-driven job displacement. Despite 52% surface-level positive sentiment (VADER), BERT analysis detected 51% negative sentiment, suggesting workers harbor deeper anxieties than superficial discourse implies. Network analysis revealed three interconnected discourse clusters around employment disruption, ethical concerns, and technical systems (modularity Q=0.42). For financial institutions assessing enterprise AI adoption risk, this study provides structured evidence that workforce psychological resistance is a material implementation variable that can slow or undermine the productivity gains underwriting AI ROI forecasts.
